Rule #1: Disappear
Location is everything. If you build in a convenient spot, you're just building a future ruin for others to loot.
Go Far: Don't stop at 15k blocks from spawn. Pick a random diagonal direction and just go.
Avoid Highways: Stay far away from the Nether highways on the main x and z axes. They are the most patrolled areas in the game.
Pick Your Hiding Spot: The best places are those nobody wants to explore. Think deep under a vast, boring ocean, or on a remote outer island in The End, separated from everything by an endless void.
Rule #2: Build Smart, Not Big
A giant, flashy castle is a giant, flashy target. Think like a ghost.
The Onion Method: Your base needs layers. Surround your core storage with a layer of obsidian. Surround the obsidian with a massive cube of water to slow down digging and block TNT.
Natural Camouflage: Your entrance is your biggest vulnerability. Don't alter the surface at all. No lights, no weird blocks. Make your way in and out through a perfectly concealed entrance that looks like any other cave wall or ocean floor block.
Stash, Don't Hoard: The smartest veterans don't have one big base. They have dozens of small, hidden stashes. A single shulker box buried in a random spot is infinitely more secure. Your real vault is your Ender Chest.
Rule #3: The Human Weakness is You
The most secure base can be compromised by one careless mistake. This is called Operational Security (OpSec).
Trust No One: Seriously. Don't. 90% of bases are found through betrayal, not discovery. Don't share coordinates, not even with your "best friend" on the server.
No Evidence: Never take a screenshot with the F3 menu open—it shows your coordinates. Be careful what you say in chat. Never leave a trail of broken blocks or dropped items when you travel.
Be a Ghost: Use the Nether to travel, but build your portal far away from your actual base and walk the rest of the way. Assume you are always being watched.
